A Suzzy!
I arrived at work Monday morning and was surprised to see a brown paper bag sitting on my desk. Surprised, but not startled, as I have almost come to expect strange arrivals in my classroom: ball jars, pieces of Tektite, small animal skulls, fabric remnants, costume jewelry, tomatoes, lilies, and books . So many good books. My good friend, Kris likes to go to estate sales on the weekends. her brother works for an auction/sale company, and she always has an inside line on the good stuff.
So, there I was, stumbling through another early Monday, expecting another ho-hum week, when I spot the bag. I set my own bags down, log onto my computer, and as I’m waiting for it to do its thing, I discover….
Airstream Kitchen Gadgets! Something I’d not only never seen, but have never even heard of. And I’ve spent a fair amount of time trolling eBay, floating the keywords “Airstream” along behind me. Because of their guacamole-green color, I suspect they are late 60s, maybe early 70s.
When I met up with Kris later in the day, she said they were in a box with some other kitchen stuff, all for $2. She knew about our penchant for Airstreams, thought of me, and shelled out the cash. I couldn’t even emphasize to her how exciting these are or how much I appreciate them.
Our Airstream Globetrotter is a 1968, so they will look right at home, and I might even put them to use.
